Why does one needs to understand oneself? yet the more, understand one's capabilities?
This question has to be answered first before one can test oneself because the later will not happen if there is no passion to understand oneself.Assuming everyone agrees that one needs to understand one's capabilities, the next question is why does one needs to test oneself?
Why can't someone else who specialize in this area test one's capabilities? The answer is plain and simple. Nobody understands someone better than what one knows of oneself. Testing oneself to understand one's capabilities is not judged by the way one can memorize one's lessons, nor how one performs in the exams.
It is neither judged by the way how well one pretends to put a smile on one's face when there is a hole inside. But it is a test of the real I. It is the test which determines how one can withstand the test of time, the acid test or whatever test we can think of.
In this world of allusion and confusion, one tends to underestimate the importance of oneself. The individual self does not seem to have a place in the social strata, where success is judged by how well the party, organization or corporation perform as a whole. It is no wonder why one tends to think of oneself as having that capability, which in fact is the capability of the bigger I(the corporation).
While a man of good virtue will never be satisfied by just being there in the same boat. He will come forward to the rudder(as the sailor does) to fight against the strong winds taking all the risk of being hijacked by pirates or hitting an iceberg with no one beside him, no one to respond to his S.O.S. He dares to carry on under the mercy of fate alone whether he reach the other shore or get lost in the sea, it is he alone who will understand his capabilities.
